Getting ready for our guests!

This weekend past weekend was BUSY!

We started it off by purchasing an IKEA Malm dresser from a Craigslist buyer for $30. Score! This dresser costs $100 new. It'll fit perfectly into the room in the basement outside the bathroom. And the wood finish matches our other furniture in the basement.

On Saturday, we got up early and went to the Maryland DMV to get our driver's licences! I had a bit of trouble because my name is different on every document. Luckily, I got the card. But we'll now need to go back and change our car title and registration to conform to my full name. (Arg!)

Next, we went to pick up some wooden shelves for the nursery and look at futons. We found a great deal on a new futon! It took us a couple hours on Sunday to put it together, but it's comfortable and looks great! We are now ready for overflow guests!

Also on Saturday, we swung by Buy Buy Baby to order our video baby monitor and pick up a few more items. Thanks to Grandma Enid Bean's stash of 20% off Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons, we saved $46 off the cost of the video monitor and $22 off our purchase! Wow! A $68 savings!

We made one more stop on Saturday - at a mattress store! We didn't like the lowest priced mattress. With my parents coming for a WHOLE MONTH, we wanted something comfortable. We thought about getting the mattress on Craigslist, but we wanted something NEW. Finally, the salesman told us they had one sample mattress that, if we liked it, he'd offer to us for half price! So we got a great deal on a great mattress! Score!

Our basement guest room is starting to come together...

I would add that we didn't just spend money this weekend. We also MADE money. On Saturday, we sold Papa Bean's antique table and chairs to a Russian couple via Craigslist. We took our earnings and treated ourselves to a nice dinner Saturday night in downtown Bethesda! We might as well enjoy date night, before the baby comes! We also sold a crappy mattress that we had paid $25 for on Craigslist for $40, scooping up a little profit for our hassle.

Finally this weekend, we went to a garden store and got some beautiful yellow flower hanging plants to replace the dead ones... Our home is starting to come together!
