A is for Alexa... and Adorable!
After weeks of extreme record-breaking heat, we finally got a nice week! Today was the best.... a high of only 75 degrees! Wow! to celebrate, Alexa got to wear her denim leggings again. They're almost too small! Here are a couple pictures of her, before daycare and after. She's a cutie pie!

Thanks cousin Amanda for this cute outfit!
Alexa got a huge bag of 6-month and 12-month outfits from her big cousin Amanda this past weekend! What a thoughtful gift! She wore one outfit yesterday... And here she is this morning wearing another one! So cute, they fit perfectly! Thank you, Amanda!

Alexa is 7 months young! (video)
What a great day! We met some mom friends and their babies for brunch, then painted pottery with our friend Blythe and her baby Avery, who was also born on Sept. 9. To celebrate our girls' 7-month birthday, we decided to hit Georgetown Cupcakes! Alexa and Avery look like they want their own cupcakes... Patience, girls! Patience!

When we got home, Alexa played on her chair.

Alexa also played with her music table before Daddy came and told her that she had just received a 7-month birthday present from Grandma E! After playing with the really cool wrapping paper, she finally opened the gift. Two pairs of LUCKY pants and a tank top!

A beautiful Spring Day!
We had a busy but wonderful day today! First, we took Alexa to a local pottery store to make hand and foot prints! The prints will be dried and fired. Then we can go back and paint them before they are fired again!

After our pottery fun, we headed to brunch with a bunch of mom friends and their babies. Alexa slept in the stroller! How cute is she?!

Then we went for a nice walk on the Capitol Crescent Trail with my friend Coleen and her baby, Drew. We stopped at a park and Alexa and Drew went on the see-saw together. They they took turns in the swing! It was hot out, so Alexa took off her new kicks and went in the swing barefoot! Fun!

We went for a walk in the neighborhood in the afternoon.

What a great day! We had so much fun with Alexa!

Our Adorable Alexa!
We went for a walk today and watched the U.S./Canada hockey game at a nearby restaurant. Alexa had a good time! She kept bouncing and smiling, making friends with the kids sitting at the next table. So cute! Here she is, hanging out in her chair when we got home. Our cutie pie!

Last music class... And Alexa visits my office!
We had a busy but fun day today. We drove into the city for our last Infant Music Class at the JCC. Alexa loves this class! We sang some of her favorites... She bounced, rolled, rocked on her knees... And basically had a grand ol time!

After the class, Alexa took a nap and I had some lunch at a Starbucks near my office. Then we stopped by my office to introduce my co-workers to Alexa! She charmed them all. What a doll! Her is my pod-mate Bill entertaining Alexa. She was looking at all his toys!

Here is Alexa at my (messy!) desk. Look at her expression! Oh dear, maybe she knows Mommy will be coming back here without her...

When we got home, Daddy was waiting to play with Alexa! Click HERE to watch a video of Alexa creeping (crawling?) from one edge of the mat to the other! Wow!

Our little princess... She is just too cute!

Alexa likes coffee! And books!
With the latest blizzard over and the streets clear, Daddy headed to work and Alexa and I ventured out to meet Mary Clare and baby Catherine for lunch! Alexa kept reaching for my coffee, so I let her "pretend drink" from the back. How funny! The cup is almost bigger than she is!

Side note: I should probably teach her early on that coffee is a big NO-NO, huh?
So anyway, Alexa enjoyed watching a few minutes of her first Olympics' opening ceremony before heading to bed.

And speaking of bed... Check it out! She FINALLY is taking an interest in books! Um, eating them is just as good as reading them, right?

Our little sitter (sort of)!
So I'm not sure if this counts as sitting? She can't get into this position on her own and she can't lift her arms up. But if I sit Alexa up, I can get her to balance on her arms and sit on her own! She's been doing this for a week or so? I call it her tripod sit. Check it out!
Of course, Alexa can also sit on her Nod chair!

And here is a picture of her in her laying in her stroller! Today was a holiday, so I met up with some other women in my mom's group, then joined Daddy for a walk along the Capitol Crescent trail. What a great day!

We used the JJ Cole Toddler Urban BundleMe that I got NEW at the Wiggle Room consignment shop for $15 (usually $59)! It matches the JJ Cole Infant Urban BundleMe that we use in the car seat. The liner zips up like a jacket around Alexa to keep her toasty warm!
The grey padding that you see cushioning her head is the JJ Cole Body Support, which I got on sale for $14 (usually $25)! Our pediatrician recommended it to protect her neck and keep her head from bumping around too much. Sure looks cozy to me!

Yay for a mom's group play date!
On Friday, Alexa and I met up with seven other moms and their babies from our PACE mom's group. Everyone brought snacks and we sat around at Coleen's talking about going back to work, pumping, rolling over, baby toys and anything else that came up. It was a nice and relaxing afternoon.

Alexa's musical education is underway
Today was a fabulous day! Alexa and I got a move early and drove into the city for our first Infant Music class at the JCC. We learned some new songs and I refreshed my memory on a bunch of oldies but goodies... Remember these?
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!
If you're happy and you know it and you really want to show it...
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes!
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes!
And eyes and ears and mouth and nose...
Heads, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes!
The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout.
Down came the rain and washed the spider out!
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain.
And the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again!
The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round. The wheels on the bus go round and round...
All through the town!
I see the Moon and the Moon sees me.
The Moon sees somebody I can't see...
God Bless the Moon and God Bless me.
God Bless the somebody I can't see.
It was a wonderful hour of singing. Alexa LOVES songs! Her whole face brightens up with a big smile. I can't wait to sing to her at home!
Speaking of singing to Alexa... Daddy has his own songs that he likes to sing to our princess. Here he is playing his guitar and singing to her "The Umbrella Song."

Holy cuteness, check out our little princess! This is Alexa's FIRST time wearing jeans! It's also her FIRST time wearing a ribbon in her hair! More of both to come. Because. Duh. She is just so stinkin' cute. Makes you just wanna pick her up and squeeze her tight!

Alexa's first SNOW STORM!
We woke up this morning to a winter wonderland outside! This is what our front yard looked like at about 9 a.m.

Our back yard by this afternoon...

But let me go back for a moment and tell you a little bit about waking up this morning. It was wonderful! After going to bed at 11 p.m., we woke up on our own at 8 a.m. Alexa, who went to sleep at 10:30 p.m., had just slept THE WHOLE NIGHT!

Now, technically, sleeping 6 hours counts as sleeping through the night. But, seriously, I need 8 hours to function! She slept 9 1/2 hours! So I slept longer than I have since before she was born!
And the best part... She didn't wake up crying. She was awake and happily hanging out in her crib. I walked into her room and was greeted by a huge smile! Here is Alexa this morning enjoying her chair - and watching the snow outside!
Around noon, we ventured outside to check out the snowfall. Our street was covered!

Here is Alexa with her Daddy and Grandpa at the NIH park near our house. The field was a vast expanse of snow!
We walked on the path to town... There were a few people out, but for the most part, the streets were deserted!
Luckily, our favorite Italian Market was open, so we got some cappuccinos!
Alexa stayed toasty warm in her new snow suit!
But the journey wore her out, so she took a nap with Grandpa!
