After music class, we loaded up in the car and drove to Virginia for Will's 1st Birthday! The party was held at the same toddler gym where his sister Rigby had her 1st Birthday. Friend Nate had a party here too. Alexa loves this place. Henry is starting to like it too!

Music class and a birthday party!
We had a full and fun day today! It started with music class. Alexa loves all the props. The first song always involves the little back eggs that you can shake. Another song means it's time to break out the drums! The scarves come out for the gypsy song! Alexa always wants the red scarf. She also always wants to help put the props away!

Ring Around the Rosie & Elephant song (video)
Today was a truly musical day! It started with music class, where Alexa decided that she didn't like the song being sung by the teacher, so she started spinning around and singing "Ring around the Rosie." Before long, her friend Ella and Ella's friend Henry wanted to sing with her. Soon, all three were holding hands in a circle and singing "Ring around the Rosie" - It was adorable!
After music class, we went to meet Grandma E and cousin Samantha at the Metro, then walked to lunch. And Alexa decided to sing her favorite song to Grandma E - "The Elephants Went out to Play." This is a new song to me, which we learned from Daddy, who used to sing it on the bus to camp!

Music class!
We signed up for an 8-week music class with some of Alexa's friends. It was great! The kids got to ride horses, play band instruments, wave scarfs, shake rattles... They had a blast! It was so loud that Henry fell asleep. :-)
After lunch and Alexa's nap, we headed to a nearby park for some fun. Alexa pushed her baby doll in the swing, took her and a sticker book down the slide and then discovered a little play house where she could "make cupcakes"!

Alexa loves music class!
Every Wednesday, Alexa's daycare teacher takes her to Music Class! The teacher of the class is a guy with a guitar named Dave. He started a blog to chronicle how the class is going. In a recent post, he gushed at how musical Alexa is! Here's what he said...
"Alexa is the heartbeat of the class when she hears a song she likes. She was very vocal today and moves constantly."Click HERE to read more!

Last music class... And Alexa visits my office!
We had a busy but fun day today. We drove into the city for our last Infant Music Class at the JCC. Alexa loves this class! We sang some of her favorites... She bounced, rolled, rocked on her knees... And basically had a grand ol time!

After the class, Alexa took a nap and I had some lunch at a Starbucks near my office. Then we stopped by my office to introduce my co-workers to Alexa! She charmed them all. What a doll! Her is my pod-mate Bill entertaining Alexa. She was looking at all his toys!

Here is Alexa at my (messy!) desk. Look at her expression! Oh dear, maybe she knows Mommy will be coming back here without her...

When we got home, Daddy was waiting to play with Alexa! Click HERE to watch a video of Alexa creeping (crawling?) from one edge of the mat to the other! Wow!

Our little princess... She is just too cute!

More Music Class!
We drove downtown today for another Infant Music Class at the JCC. What is great about this class is that we learn the words to several different songs - and re-learn old classics. We each get a song sheet so we can follow along with the words. Alexa loves it!
Our latest favorite song is "I've Got Two" from Sesame Street.
Another one we really like is about a donkey called Molly. But I made up my own words...
I have a baby
Her name's Alexa
And she goes wah-wah all the time!
A-L-E-X-A, A-L-E-X-A, A-L-E-X-A
Alexa, mine!
Two other songs that we've done in class that I am warming up to are "The Goldfish" and "Free to be You and Me." Plus, the song "Goodnight" by Laurie Berkner is very cute.
It's so relaxing to sing songs... And, thankfully, Alexa has no idea that I can't sing. She smiles so big and loves it!

Alexa's musical education is underway
Today was a fabulous day! Alexa and I got a move early and drove into the city for our first Infant Music class at the JCC. We learned some new songs and I refreshed my memory on a bunch of oldies but goodies... Remember these?
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!
If you're happy and you know it and you really want to show it...
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes!
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes!
And eyes and ears and mouth and nose...
Heads, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes!
The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout.
Down came the rain and washed the spider out!
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain.
And the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again!
The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round. The wheels on the bus go round and round...
All through the town!
I see the Moon and the Moon sees me.
The Moon sees somebody I can't see...
God Bless the Moon and God Bless me.
God Bless the somebody I can't see.
It was a wonderful hour of singing. Alexa LOVES songs! Her whole face brightens up with a big smile. I can't wait to sing to her at home!
Speaking of singing to Alexa... Daddy has his own songs that he likes to sing to our princess. Here he is playing his guitar and singing to her "The Umbrella Song."
