Happy Leap Day!

Leap Day only comes around once every four years. Well, to celebrate, Alexa wore an outfit that hasn't been worn in the last 16 years! Or something like that. Isn't it cute? Held up well, huh? This Hannah Anderson outfit belonged to Alexa's big cousin Samantha, who is now 17 and a senior in high school! Alexa rocked it. Her day care teachers were like, "Oooh, Alexa dressed up nice today!"

Daddy can see Henry's day care room!

Photo is a little fuzzy, but Daddy just discovered that he can actually SEE into Henry's day care classroom from his new office! Isn't that cool? I wish I could watch Henry all day! But, alas, I'd never get any work done!

Yoga AND train ride! (video)

Wow, another fun-filled day! Alexa and I had a mommy-daughter date. We went to yoga class! It was even more fun because Alexa's friends Talya and Avery showed up! The girls had fun pretending to be sea animals and doing some yoga poses. Alexa moved her mat around the room. I think she liked it! Afterward, we took the girls out to brunch. They held hands as we walked down the street!

After Alexa's nap, we headed to a nearby Mall to ride the choo choo train! Alexa loved it so much that we took her on two rides, one with Daddy and one with Mommy. Henry just slept. Afterward, we went out for dinner. What a nice night!

Oh, I almost forgot... Here's another fun video of our train ride!

Music class AND gymnastics! (video)

What a great fun-filled day! We started out at music class with Alexa's friends Avery and Ella. As soon as we walked in, Ella ran up to give her a hug! The girls had so much fun running around hugging and fighting over toys (everyone wanted the red scarf!) After music class, Alexa asked her friends: "Doya wanna go to the tookie store?" They did. So, off we went!

After her nap, we went to check out open play at a local gymnastics center with Alexa's friends Eli and Talya. Alexa LOVED the trampoline! She also liked walking on the balance beam with Daddy.

Want more? Check out this video of Alexa jumping on the trampoline! She was so darn cute!

More fun with Grandma E & Samantha

I forgot all about these photos from last weekend with Grandma E and Samantha! We had such a nice time. Here is Henry enjoying his exersaucer! He inherited it from Alexa, who got it as a gift. And here is Alexa playing with her cousin Samantha, who she calls "Mantha."

Another fun thing we did with Grandma E and Samantha was hit Bloomingdales for a big store closing sale! Check out this adorable outfit we found! If you see a lot of photos of Alexa posing on our front doorstep, it's because we used to take her monthly photos there. Now, she thinks that's the place you go to take photos! I'm not complaining... As long as she smiles for the camera!

Finally ... Here is Henry's nursery!

Same green walls and chocolate brown furniture as Alexa's nursery. We just traded the hot pink for navy blue! Click HERE to review what Alexa's nursery looked like! Inspired by Alexander Henry's blue zoo pool fabric, I went with a colorful jungle theme. I ordered the crib skirt and blanket on the chair from Etsy and grandma made the hamper, chair pillow and elephant rattle in the same fabric! Thanks to Aunt Jen for the giant giraffe, my friend Natalie for the H-E-N-R-Y name train and Grandma E for the "Henry" doll on the changing table! Click HERE to see my original thoughts on the nursery.

Alexa loves this garden!

Alexa loves this little plastic garden! It's at this park near our house. There is another one at another local park. Plus, her cousin gave one to Grandma E, so there is one at Grandma E's house too! We are trying to figure out how to get it to Washington, D.C. It's such a cute garden and Alexa is drawn to it. Every time she sees it, she wants to play in it. Plus, it's been discontinued, so we can't get it anywhere else! Here she is playing in the garden with her Daddy this past weekend. I'm surprised that he fit in there!

Daddy's 1st day on his own with both kids!

Yesterday was a federal holiday, so daycare was closed. And Daddy was off. But Mommy had to work! So Daddy watched both kids all on his own! He got them ready in the morning, drove Mommy to work, then took Alexa to a local play space for open play, during which time he gave Henry a bottle! He also fed Alexa lunch and put her down for a 2:15 nap! After her nap, he helped Alexa make a Fruit Loop necklace. Go Daddy! Here are some pictures he took that day!

Alexa serves pizza and salad

After another meal out - this time we got salad and pizza at a favorite local place - Alexa decided to play restaurant! So all on he own, she took her Sit-n-Spin toy and turned it upside down, then set out food and cups, making it into a table. When asked what she was serving, she announced that it was pizza and salad! She is so clever. And so observant!

Another fun day with Grandma E and Samantha... We walked into town and Alexa played at the train table at the bookstore. Then we headed to brunch and Alexa LOVED pancakes! Yum!

Ring Around the Rosie & Elephant song (video)

Today was a truly musical day! It started with music class, where Alexa decided that she didn't like the song being sung by the teacher, so she started spinning around and singing "Ring around the Rosie." Before long, her friend Ella and Ella's friend Henry wanted to sing with her. Soon, all three were holding hands in a circle and singing "Ring around the Rosie" - It was adorable!

After music class, we went to meet Grandma E and cousin Samantha at the Metro, then walked to lunch. And Alexa decided to sing her favorite song to Grandma E - "The Elephants Went out to Play." This is a new song to me, which we learned from Daddy, who used to sing it on the bus to camp!

More yoga and Henry's 2nd visit to the National Mall

Today was another day off and after a very busy work week, I couldn't wait for more mommy-baby yoga! Check out my adorable yogini. Looks like he snuck a football into yoga class!

After yoga, we headed downtown to take some Flat Stanley photos! This marked Henry's 2nd trip to the National Mall. Back in October, we took him to see the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. Click HERE to see those photos! Today, Henry made his 1st visit to the Lincoln Memorial.

Heart cookies from "Grandma-I-NEED-a-tookie"!

Well, well, well. Just look what we got in the mail for Valentine's Day! Heart-shaped cookies from "Grandma-I-need-a-tookie"! That's my mom's nickname because when she was in town for the holidays, she made SO MANY cookies that Alexa started calling her "Grandma-I-need-a-tookie"! Unfortunately, a few of the cookies broke. So Daddy and I had to eat them. We gave Alexa a heart to decorate with her new favorite vice - sprinkles!

Happy Valentine's Day!

To celebrate Henry's 1st Valentine's Day, I got him this cute footie and took some photos! Check out how photogenic he is... Just smiling and laughing away. What a happy baby!

Meanwhile, when Alexa got home from daycare, we took some photos of her in her Valentine's Day outfit from Grandma Lil! So cute. I bribed her to get a smile. It worked!

We printed wallet-size photos of Henry and Alexa to include in these super cute Valentine's Day cards! The pink handprint is Alexa; the red footprint is Henry. Happy Valentine's Day!

Uh-oh, someone discovered lipstick!

I gave her my chapstick so she could copy Mommy and put her lipstick on! Oh dear... Very cute, but oh dear. At least she isn't eating it... yet!

Yum, yum! Pretzyl necklaces!

Another cold day kept us indoors after Alexa's nap, so I grabbed some left-over Christmas ribbon and a few snack packs of pretzyls for a necklace-making project! Alexa insisted on eating many of the pretzyls before stringing them, but somehow she still had enough to make the necklace! She had fun, got her afternoon snack and worked on her fine motor skills. Win, win, win!

Cookies! Cookies! Cookies!

We had a fun-packed day today that included the consumption of many cookies! We started the day with Spanish class, then headed to music class. Afterward, Alexa went up to her friend Avery and said: "Avery, you want to go to the tookie store?" Avery said yes! So... Off we went!

After her nap, Alexa was still in the mood for cookies... So we made lazy man's cookies! I used a cookie cutter to cut hearts out of wheat bread, then iced the bread cookies and let Alexa dump sprinkles on them. She loved dumping the sprinkles! It was kind of a mess. But we had fun!

Tot Shabbat at the Temple

Alexa was excited to go to the Temple tonight! We met up with her friend Ella and Ella's family for Tot Shabbat, which features music, storytime and dinner. Alexa will be going to preschool here with Ella in the Fall, so we are trying to get her used to it by going to as many events as we can. She loves Tot Shabbat! She calls it a party and asks to "go to Temple." Here she is enjoying juice!

He is now 26 inches tall (90th percentile) and 15 pounds, 1 ounce (50th percentile)! And, of course... Monthly photos! I know I'm behind on blogging, but I've still been taking photos! Alexa's first theater experience!

We had a really fun day! Alexa and I went to see "Mouse on the Move" at Imagination Stage with my friend Tricia and her daughter Ella. The show was amazing, very interactive! But no photos allowed... I actually was having so much fun that I forgot to take any photos during our awesome play date. So here is a video preview of the show so you can see how awesome it was! We are planning to go see another show at Imagination Stage with all of Alexa's friends next month!

Fun at the mall

It was rainy this afternoon, so we headed to the mall! We met Alexa's friend Eli at the bounce place. They had a blast and burned A LOT of energy! Afterward, they each got a yellow balloon and played on mechanical toys. They both jumped in the car and asked for money to make it go. So we gave them "pretend money" and then rocked the car ourselves! They loved it! But then they wanted more "pretend money"...... All in all, an awesome day! That's the word of the day, by the way. As in: "Mommy, you're awesome! Henry's awesome too!" Awww, thanks Alexa!

My little yogini

Another yoga class with my little man! I can't even count how many yoga classes Henry has been to. Definitely more than Alexa. He loves it! I massage him, push his knees up, bicycle his legs, stretch his arms wide and then crossed... He rolls back and forth, does baby bridge pose, fish pose and pulls up to standing! He laughs and squeels in delight the whole time. We love it!
