Alexa's 3rd trip to Ocean City! (videos)

We had a nice drive up to New Jersey. Alexa slept most of the way, then had fun eating Saltine crackers! We stopped by Grandpa's store and went out to lunch and swung by a fruit and veggie stand to pick up some fresh Jersey corn, tomatoes and peaches! Yum! At the house, Alexa played in Mema's studio. before eating a hearty dinner and having fun in the bath. Photos and videos below... Actually, you'll notice a lot of videos today! Here's why.

And now, videos from our day! I plan to submit them for the July 24 "Life in a Day" documentary. Maybe they will choose us and Alexa will be a star!

Alexa tries out her NEW bath!

Alexa is getting a little big for her infant tub... And she keeps trying to stand up in it! Doh! So we got a Snug Tub for her to use in the big tub. We tried it for the first time tonight and she seemed to like it, but it was a chore trying to hold on to her! We'll see... I still like how easy the infant tub is to use.

Alexa sports a MOHAWK!

Look what happens when you leave Alexa and Daddy alone for 5 minutes in the bath... Our little girl gets a mohawk! What a riot. She's a rocker girl! Riot chic! Too cool for school! Oh, and if you are wondering how she learned those big mouth-wide-open smiles, check out who she is copying. Yeah, Daddy. Sweetie pie, you shouldn't copy ALL of Daddy's expressions! Doh!

Wonderful day with Grandma E!

Daddy is in Vegas, so Grandma E came down for a girls weekend! We met up with some of the women and babies from my mom's group for brunch -- and had cupcakes with Blythe and Avery!

Then, because it was such a nice day, Grandma E and I took a LONG walk while Alexa took a LONG nap! When she woke up, she was in a very happy and smiley mood. So we walked to a park and she had a ball in the swing!

When we got home, Alexa ate SO MUCH FOOD! She downed a 4 oz jar of winter squash followed by a 4 oz jar of Pears and some applesauce, which she gulped down while gumming a teething biscuit. Finally, she played in her bath before going to bed. Whew!

I took these photos on my Blackberry during the day and e-mailed them to Daddy so he could see what we were up to. He wrote back that he missed us!

Toes! Alexa can grab her toes!

Today, I left Alexa and Daddy for a few hours to go to brunch with some girlfriends. How cute are they! Daddy and Alexa!

Later, Daddy left Alexa with me to go play cards with his friends. As I was getting Alexa ready for her bath, she started grabbing onto her feet. It was so cute!

(Her interest in her feet started last night when she started grabbing at the little critters on the feet of her pjs, pictured above. It was hilarious!)

A visit from Grandma E!

Grandma E took the train down for the day so she could hang out with baby Alexa! We had a nice afternoon playing with Alexa on her activity mat.

Check out this adorable pink ruffle outfit from Alexa's other grandma. It fits and she looks so cute in it! Thanks, Grandma R!

Grandma R got to see Alexa roll over for the first time when she was here for the holidays. She helped teach Alexa how it's done. Now, Alexa is rolling both ways!

So Alexa showed Grandma E how she rolls over! She also showed Grandma E how she gets up on her knees! And how she does the "down dog" yoga pose!

Later, we all gave her a bath and she stuck her foot out like she was reclining at a spa. Ha!

Then Grandma E read Alexa the personalized Fairy-Tale storybook that she got her for Hanukkah!

After the story, Grandma E gave Alexa a bottle. And Daddy put her down to sleep! What a nice day. Thanks for visiting us, Grandma E!

Alexa tries out her new bath pod!

One of the women in my mom's group raves about her Tummy Tub. This round bucket-shaped bath tub is supposed to calm babies because it mimics a mom's womb. Combined with the warm water and cramped quarters, babies supposedly feel right at home.

I told Alexa's daddy about the Tummy Tub, but he balked at paying $42 for what he called a "glorified bucket." So I found this washPOD by Prince Lionheart at Buy Buy Baby for $21.99. After using a 20% off coupon, the cost came to just $17!

I figured that since Alexa loves her bath, this might be a new way for her to enjoy the water. It's sort of like a baby hot tub, if you will. We finally got a chance to try it out...

After initially balking at the idea of sitting in the small bucket, she made herself quite at home and seemed to enjoy relaxing in her tub.

The only downside to this kind of a tub is that washing her hair is a little difficult and once the water becomes soapy, it's hard to rinse her off. Plus it is, well, a little cramped in there!

I think this tub would have been nicer to have when Alexa was younger, but then you run into the problem of her not being able to hold her head up. It's definitely a tub with a limited life since she'll outgrow it soon. But for now, we're getting a lot of enjoyment out of it. I'm sure glad we opted to get the less expensive version!

Yup, even babies need some prune juice!

As some of you know, our little princess has been a little backed up. Excuse me, but there is no delicate way to say it! Going several days, or even a week, between bowel movements is pretty common in breastfed babies. It's only a concern when the backup makes the baby uncomfortable. In Alexa's case, she's a happier baby when things are flowing!

So other than helping her out, her doctor recommended giving her 1/2 oz of prune juice. We tried it a couple of times before, and it seemed to help, but it was really hard to get Alexa to drink it. At first I put it in a bottle, but that didn't work. We then tried a medicine syringe. Finally, we turned to her new sippy cup... Thanks to Aunt Andi, Uncle Dan and cousins Jake and Kayla for the sippy cup!

Update: The prune juice worked!

Of course we stripped her down to her diaper and plunked her in her bath, just in case it got messy. And oh boy did it ever!

At least she didn't cry. But we're not sure how much of the juice got into her since it seemed every time we gave her some, more would come right back up!

Who's taller: Alexa or the snow?

The snow stopped this morning, so after Daddy went out to shovel, we decided to measure! Alexa was 23 inches long at her last appointment and a rough measure with the measuring tape shows she's about the same, maybe 23 1/2 inches long.

How much snow fell? Well, according to the National Weather Service the total snowfall in Bethesda, Md., was 24 inches! So the answer is that the snow is taller than Alexa!
