Football Sunday!

Never too young for football Sunday, as Alexa is learning. She's still too little for her Steelers onesies, so she kicked up her heels in her Steelers socks and had some fun with her "Terrible Toddler Towel"!

If you notice her expression... She wasn't too happy that the Cincinnati Bengals beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. :-(

Alexa's first play date!

My friend Mary Clare brought baby Catherine over today for our first play date! Catherine was born at the same hospital as Alexa, only 11 days earlier. And the same doctor delivered both of our girls! Here we are with our strollers, before our walk!

In case you have to ask... Yes, we walked to Starbucks! Duh. Can't wait until our next play date!

Another Amazing day with Alexa!

From this morning, Alexa napping on my mom's shoulder! (Note the adorable orange and white tie-died onesie, another creation from cousin Samantha!)

In the afternoon, my dad and I walked to Starbucks and back. We estimate that it's about 2 1/2 miles roundtrip. Yay for daily exercise! Of course the iced latte I had might cancel out any calories I burned. Doh!

Another walk to Starbucks!

Tuesday afternoon, we took another walk to Starbucks in downtown Bethesda!

This time, both of my parents came along. And we stopped to check out Daisy Baby, a specialty baby store in downtown Bethesda, and the Wiggle Room, a baby and maternity consignment shop right down the street.

I loved the clothes and stuff at Daisy Baby, although many items were overpriced. However, I did buy a cute pink hat made of eco-friendly soybean fiber, a small photo album and some nifty things to keep baby's socks on!

I was not impressed with the things for sale at Wiggle Room. The store had a stench and everything looked REALLY worn. Oh well. Maybe I'll sell some of my stuff there later? I'm still glad we checked it out!

Meanwhile, look at how big Alexa is! I can totally feel the difference in the sling. She is growing up! So fast!

My mom likes this picture. Yes, it's of me covertly breast feeding at Starbucks! Discrete? I think so! But you be the judge...

Alexa's first bath!

Monday was a crazy busy day... I forgot to mention that while Mommy was upstairs showering and getting ready for our pediatrician appointment, Daddy gave Alexa her first bath!

Seriously, Papa Bean gets mad props for this one. He took the tub, wash cloth and towel, baby soap and instructions handed out to us at the hospital... And gave her a bath!

What a hands on Dad. I was super impressed. Here are the photos (courtesy of my Mom) to prove it! Go Papa Bean, go!

Alexa's newborn photo shoot!

Wow! As if our baby wasn't already the cutest baby in the world... Check out THESE photos from Monday's newborn photo shoot!

Amber from Little Moon Photography was amazing. So patient, cheerful and creative. She got some amazing shots! The ones on her blog are just a few... I can't wait to see the rest! Including the amazing shots she took of Daddy and his little girl all curled up like a ball in his hands!

Alexa's gaining weight!

We had another pediatrician appointment this morning and got some good news: Alexa is already back up to birth weight! Usually babies get back to birth weight around 2 weeks. So, once again, our darling daughter is ahead of the curve!

Not that I am surprised... She eats like a champ. So I figured she must have gained weight since last week!

To recap:
  • Her birth weight on Sept. 9 was 7 pounds, 12 ounces.
  • However, at midnight on Sept. 12, she was just 6 pounds, 15 ounces.
  • By her first pediatrician appointment on Sept. 14, after my milk had come in, she was up to 7 pounds, 2 ounces.
  • Today, Sept. 21, she weighed in at 7 pounds, 11.5 ounces!
This all goes to show that she is growing up so fast! Soon she'll be headed off to college...

But until then, the only thing that seems to fit are these adorable onesies from Zara, a gift from Aunt Jen! How cute is she? Too cute...

And speaking of cuteness, we had our professional photo shoot today with Amber from Little Moon Photography. She got some great shots! Can't wait to see them!

Alexa's first grill out!

Our friends Duer and Bridget brought their 2-month-old baby Haley over on Sunday evening for some burgers and football! Haley has a full head of gorgeous brown hair and is already so much bigger than the last time we saw her!

Here are the daddies with their daughters! So cute...

Alexa roots for the Hoosiers!

Check out Alexa and Daddy, all decked out in Indiana gear! Thanks for Al for the adorable IU gear. Now I need to get her some more Northwestern stuff to even the playing field!

Oh, btw, Alexa might have been good luck for the Hoosiers as Indiana knocked off Akron in a 38-21 win on Saturday.

Northwestern? Not so much. The Wildcats fell to Syracuse in a 34-37 shootout.

Meanwhile, our Saturday was spent at Buy Buy Baby picking up a few additional baby items... Alexa slept through most of it and we got in and out like champs!

Alexa's first ride in her new stroller!

It was a beautiful day Friday and since Papa Bean was home from work, we decided to take our our fabulous Baby Jogger stroller for a spin! So off we went to... Where else? Starbucks!

Here is Papa Bean pushing Alexa on her FIRST of many stroller rides! (A big thank you to Grandpa Howard and Mema Wanda for the car seat and stroller!)

And, from earlier Friday, here are some more ridiculously adorable photos of Alexa sporting her funky flower headband! Mommy ordered it a while back from this Etsy seller. Love it!

Alexa's first trip to Starbucks!

After nearly a week of taking it easy, I was a little restless and wanted to get outside. So we decided to try out my new baby sling and take a little walk to Starbucks!

We got out the sling and some instructions, then gently put a sleeping baby Alexa into the sling. It was an overcast, rainy day but the air was nice and crisp!

We walked slowly and before long, we made it to Starbucks! Success! While there, I did my first public diaper change using the changing table in the Starbucks bathroom. I also did my first public breast feeding session, using my wrap to cover myself. Great practice!

After a little shopping next door, we headed home. What a fun excursion!
